Structural Timber Association (STA) – Learning Portal Terms & Conditions

Members
Members of the Structural Timber Association are granted access to all learning materials contained within the portal.
Organisations or individuals who do not renew membership with the STA, will no longer have access to the learning portal.
Learning Materials
All materials contained within the STA portal have been developed and approved by suitably qualified persons on behalf of the STA.
Members shall be allowed to view and download selected materials from the portal, but may not distribute these materials to non-STA members.
All material contained in the learning portal remains the intellectual property of the STA and may not be shared or re-used for other purposes outside the STA.
Exam participants
This can be an individual working as a sub-contractor with a member organisation or an employee of a member organisation.
Exam participants will be granted access to specified learning materials, mock exams and proctored exams. Participants have unlimited access learning materials and mock exams, but will have a maximum of 3 attempts to pass proctored exams.
Installer Training Scheme (ITS) Exam
This exam has been written and approved by suitably qualified persons on behalf of the STA. This exam is designed to test the knowledge and competence of Installers/Erectors working for member organisations.
Participants in the Installer Training Scheme are required to pass a ‘proctored’ exam.
Proctoring is the process of invigilation to ensure that participants are applying their own knowledge of the subject without external help.
Proctored Exam Rules
Participants must:
- Present valid ID at the start of the exam.
- Not use external resources during the exam. This includes, but is not limited to; mobile phones, internet searches, printed text, or have another person providing answers during the exam.
- A score of 85% needs to be achieved in order to pass the exam.
- Proctoring permissions must be accepted at the start of the exam.
- Proctoring rules must be met during the duration of the exam.
Exam failures:
Any participant who does not achieve 85% or more in the exam, will be given the opportunity to re-take a further two times. Providing that proctoring rules have been adhered to.
Participants who fail the exam three times, will be contacted by the STA Skills & Training Coordinator and their member organisation will be informed.
Participants who pass the exam, but do not satisfy the proctoring criteria, will be contacted by the STA Skills & Training Coordinator.
Portal Access
The STA reserves the right to remove access from any user of the learning portal at any a time.
